Very commonly with beginner and intermediate skiers, the way a ski looks, or the name or if it is cool are more significant factors than actual technical jargon. The Paul Frank Julius Ako skis are basically that in a nutshell--as their main feature is Julius (the sweet monkey) from Paul Frank. But the skis are actually really good! The skis themselves have a lightweight foam core but are a bit stiffer than you might expect because of a fiber reinforced topsheet and strong edges, so lower intermediates that are just beginning to carve can beat 'em up on the slopes with no worries.
